Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jamison Hebert (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bart Shaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Jamison Hebert has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jamison Hebert!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bart Shaw!
The judges for this bout are Chris Dean, Ben Hemmingworth and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hebert shoots for a double leg takedown but Shaw sprawls well. He's pushed Hebert's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Bart Shaw seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hebert fails with the takedown.

Shaw closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Hebert's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Bart Shaw was stalling too much, according to the referee.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Hebert enables Shaw to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Hebert manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Shaw is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Shaw wants to get up but he can't break Hebert's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Hebert can't keep his opponent in guard - Shaw advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Shaw scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Shaw perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Bart Shaw hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Shaw is looking to break free of the clinch but Hebert has double underhooks.

Shaw is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Hebert can't fight it off and eventually Shaw manages to take the fight to the floor. Hebert looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Shaw throws a big right hand that misses.
Hebert wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Hebert.

Shaw is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Hebert defends it well.

Hebert is in trouble now - Shaw has advanced to mount!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hebert is in a horrible position here. Shaw smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Shaw is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Hebert has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Hebert is squirming around, avoiding Shaw's attempts to control the action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bart Shaw showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



Shaw bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Shaw misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Shaw throws a strike aimed at the side of Hebert's head but Hebert avoids it well.
You can see the frustration on Hebert's face as Shaw controls the position.

Shaw fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Hebert manages to avoid it.

Shaw rushes Hebert and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Hebert lands a right hand.
Hebert has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Hebert goes for a takedown attempt but Shaw pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Hebert has hold of Shaw's hands but Shaw slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Shaw is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Shaw is trying to control the action in half guard but Hebert is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Shaw shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Hebert's guard.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Shaw is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Hebert dives in and grabs Shaw's left leg, looking for a takedown. Shaw pushes down on Hebert's head and hops out.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Shaw tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Shaw has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Bart Shaw comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Shaw has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
