The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vasiliev tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Cervantes tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Vasiliev swivels and escapes.
Vasiliev displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Cervantes.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Elijah Cervantes just wasn't active enough.
Vasiliev shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Cervantes pinned against the cage. Cervantes gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Dmitriy Vasiliev seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cervantes tries for a takedown but Vasiliev sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Elijah Cervantes. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Vasiliev throws a solid leg kick but Cervantes takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Vasiliev.

Vasiliev shoots for a double leg takedown but Cervantes sprawls well. He's pushed Vasiliev's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Cervantes tries to score a power double leg takedown but Vasiliev sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Cervantes somewhat.

Cervantes jumps guard but Vasiliev stands there with Cervantes around his waist. Cervantes gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Vasiliev has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Cervantes uses from the top position.

That was a close round but I would say that Elijah Cervantes will probably get the nod.

Cervantes looks up at the clock and then as Vasiliev takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Cervantes smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Cervantes is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Vasiliev is trying to escape and Cervantes transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Vasiliev is forced to tap! Nice work there by Cervantes! Very nice indeed!
