The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mirumra steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Knight.
Knight lands a two punch combo.

It looks like Lal Mirumra has been cut.
Knight uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Mirumra jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Knight walks away with a smile on his face. Mirumra gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Mirumra closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Knight's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Mirumra drops back looking for a leg! Knight is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Knight manages to kick Mirumra off! Mirumra jumps back into Knight's guard.

Mirumra drops back, looking for a kneebar! Knight looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Knight looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Knight!
Mirumra is trying to improve his position.
Knight tries to advance to mount but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mirumra tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Knight wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Mirumra takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.

Mirumra is not content to let Knight control the position.

Knight decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Mirumra shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Knight as he jumps to the side.

and Knight counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Mirumra had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Knight defends it easily.

Mirumra is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Knight has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Knight wanted to stand there but Mirumra had control of the position.

Knight got a little sloppy there for a moment and Mirumra has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Knight has managed to get both his arms back between Mirumra's legs - danger averted.
Knight passes Mirumra's left leg - he's now in half guard.
It looks like Knight is going to stand back up.

Knight seems to be looking for submissions.

Mirumra has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Knight. Oh but Mirumra has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Knight goes limp - he's gone! Mirumra jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
