PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brock Lesnar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dave Batista (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brock Lesnar!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dave Batista!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Wesley Smith and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lesnar lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.


It looks like Dave Batista has been cut.
Lesnar moves in looking to clinch but Batista pushes him off.
Lesnar misses with a wild combination.
A combination from Batista does no damage.
A head kick misses from Lesnar.
Batista fails with the takedown.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Batista.
Batista changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Lesnar tries to avoid it but Batista manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Lesnar to the ground. Lesnar escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Brock Lesnar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dave Batista.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Lesnar feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Lesnar gets to his feet - Batista follows without any prompting.

Lesnar has managed to clinch.

Batista gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Lesnar tries to get to full guard but Batista has control of the leg.
Lesnar makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Lesnar.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Batista throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Lesnar works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Lesnar tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Lesnar utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Lesnar wants to sweep here but Batista controlling him for the moment.
Batista throws a big elbow that misses.
Batista passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Lesnar tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Lesnar sneaks back into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Batista is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Lesnar reverses the position - he's now on top in Batista's guard.
Lesnar wants to control from the top but Batista keeps moving.

Batista is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Lesnar passes into half guard.
Lesnar landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Lesnar thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Batista's head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Batista is staying active underneath Lesnar, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Batista avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Lesnar.
Batista wants to get back to full guard.
Batista works his way to full guard. Good work.
Lesnar in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Lesnar scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

Lesnar has gone for a leg lock! Batista slips out almost immediately though and dives into Lesnar's guard.
Lesnar is adopting a defensive guard.
Batista is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Lesnar avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Lesnar is looking to sweep but instead, Batista has passed into half guard.
Batista throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Lesnar to regain full guard.
Lesnar looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Batista puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Batista trying to mount his opponent but Lesnar defends it.

Batista is looking for a kimura but Lesnar is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Batista to get the leverage.
Batista drops an elbow to the side of Lesnar's head.
Batista is looking to take a break and control but Lesnar is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Lesnar controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Lesnar is trying to stand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brock Lesnar dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Dave Batista's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Batista looks to land a combination but Lesnar avoids it well.

Batista lands a left and a right that send Lesnar crashing to the mat, dazed. Batista thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


Lesnar is rocked!


It looks like Brock Lesnar has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Batista misses with a two punch combination.
Oh Lesnar is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Batista lands hard precision jab right on the jaw that stiffens Lesnar up and sends him tumbling to the mat! The ref grabs Batista from behind before he can pounce. Some folks in the crowd didn't like that stoppage, but I saw Lesnar's eyes roll way back in his head, he was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:14 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Dave Batista!
Dave Batista is the new heavyweight champion!
The defeated Brock Lesnar had this to say: 'Sorry to the fans, I'm gonna go away work on my weaknesses and come back like a wrecking ball.'.
