The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Campbell fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Nicolopus, pushing him back against the cage.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Nicolopus slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Campbell is really struggling to control Nicolopus but he's trying to hold on to the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Sergio Campbell just wasn't active enough.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Nicolopus fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Campbell to the ground. Nicolopus is now in Campbell's guard.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Nicolopus's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Oh Campbell is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Nicolopus is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Let's hope that Nicolopus has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Nicolopus is working Campbell over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Nicolopus gets to his feet and stands over Campbell, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Campbell felt that one! Nicolopus unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Campbell from any more punishment!
