Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Rafael Palhares!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Dr Dre!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, David Hoff and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Palhares tries to clinch there but Dre circles away.
Palhares fails with the takedown

and Dre counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Dre is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Dre throws a big elbow that misses.
Dre really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Palhares. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Dre sitting in guard, not really doing much.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Dr Dre was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Dre throws a leg kick but Palhares moved away.
Palhares shoots and misses

and Dre counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Dre.
Palhares is breathing heavily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Dre trying to control the position from guard on top but Palhares is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Dre must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dre in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Dre sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Palhares's guard.
Dre takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Dre is working for a submission of some sort.
Dre is trying to control the action in half guard but Palhares is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Dre is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Palhares defends it well.
Dre should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Dre is thwarting Palhares's attempts to control the position.
Dre passes the guard and advances to mount!

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Dre wants to finish this one by submission but Palhares is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Dre.
Palhares is looking to get to half guard.

Dre looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Palhares is bucking up trying to escape but Dre cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
BOOM! Dre connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Dre prevents Palhares from getting the reversal.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Palhares tries to hold on but Dre pushes him away.
Dre controlling from the full mount.
Dre lands a couple of good shots and Palhares has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Palhares trying to control the hands but Dre won't let him.

Dre working for the choke.

Dre has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
Dre is not going to allow Palhares to sit and survive in this position.

Dre has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Palhares! Can he survive? No! He's out! Dre gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Dr Dre!
