PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Gary Dunn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Neighborhood Slugger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gary Dunn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Neighborhood Slugger!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Bruno Lombardi and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dunn closes the distance and pushes Slugger back into the cage.

Dunn successfully pulls guard.
Dunn seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Dunn is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Slugger throws a big right hand that misses.

Dunn pushes Slugger off and scrambles back to his feet.
Slugger wants to clinch up but Dunn keeps it at a distance.

Slugger closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Dunn really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Dunn avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Slugger.

Dunn is throwing a few token shots, despite Slugger being in side control.

Dunn tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.

Slugger is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Dunn defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Slugger is not going to allow Dunn to sit and survive in this position.
Slugger has the hooks in. Dunn is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Dunn wants to get back to his feet.
Dunn rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dunn lands one or two decent shots to the body here. Although from his own half guard, he's not going to be causing too much damage.

Dunn manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Slugger keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Dunn will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Dunn lands a nice shot to the body.

Slugger is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Dunn shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Slugger's guard.
Dunn won't allow Slugger to sweep him here.
Dunn advances position into side control!

Dunn tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Dunn has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Dunn lands a nice forearm strike.

Slugger striking from the bottom but nothing landed.
Slugger tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Slugger is trying to strike from the bottom but Dunn has passed into full mount.
Dunn lands a couple of good shots and Slugger has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Dunn controlling well, preventing Slugger from escaping the position.
Dunn is throwing punches to the body, looking to soften Slugger up.

Dunn is cranking Slugger's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Slugger! He's tightened the choke and Slugger is tapping out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Gary Dunn!
