Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bruiser Halperin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rusty Everson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Halperin comes to the cage accompanied by Somewhere Over the Rainbow. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rusty Everson!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Jonathan Paton and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Halperin looking to land some kicks to the body here.

Halperin tries to bum rush Everson with a series of wild strikes but Everson uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Everson keeps the fight on the outside.

Everson closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Everson lands in his opponent's guard.
Halperin on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Halperin tries to get out of the position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Everson moves into full mount! Halperin won't be happy about that!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Horrible takedown by Everson or perhaps it was just good defense by Halperin which made him look bad.

Halperin misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Halperin tries to close the distance and clinch up but Everson swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Everson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Halperin swivels and escapes.

Everson feints and as Halperin raises his hands in defense, Everson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Everson's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Halperin wants to stand and escape but Everson is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Halperin wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Everson manages to pass to side control.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Halperin is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Everson is controlling him.
Everson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Everson slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Halperin sneaks out the side door and pushes Everson away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Halperin lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Halperin.

Everson sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Halperin wants to get back to his feet.

Everson landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Everson prevents Halperin from standing back up.
Everson winds up and cracks Halperin with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Halperin looks like he's trying to stand up.

Everson is pressing down on Halperin's thigh, looking to free his foot. Halperin is holding on for now.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Bruiser Halperin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rusty Everson.

Everson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Halperin to the mat! Halperin manages to get full guard.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



Everson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Halperin will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Everson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Halperin tries to clinch up but Everson circles away and keeps his distance.

Everson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Halperin looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Everson is looking to take a break and control but Halperin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Halperin pushes Everson away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Everson gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Everson is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Everson gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Everson gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Everson apologises and we restart here on the feet.

Everson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Halperin sprawls well initially but Everson persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Everson looks up at the clock and then as Halperin takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Everson smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Everson shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Halperin's guard.

Halperin is looking for a triangle but Everson pushes his legs off easily.

I've got Everson winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
