Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ben Benson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Russell Martinez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Benson comes to the cage accompanied by Emergence Of Talents. The crowd seem to be enjoying Martinez's choice of entrance music: I Refuse to Lose. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Russell Martinez was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Jorge Garcia and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Martinez fails with an attempt to clinch.
Benson shoots in looking for a takedown. Martinez tries to sprawl out of it but Benson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Martinez manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Martinez is trying to control Benson's posture but Benson avoids it.

Benson decides to return to a standing position.
Benson has closed the distance and engaged Martinez in a clinch.

Martinez is fighting off a takedown attempt but Benson is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Martinez to the mat. Martinez regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

and Benson counters with a nice double leg into side control. Martinez won't be happy with that.

Benson tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

and Benson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Martinez is working an open guard so Benson takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Benson stalks Martinez and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Martinez's face. Martinez staggers backwards, shaken.

and Benson counters with a one-two to the body.
Martinez has his takedown stuffed
and Benson counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Benson is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Benson lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Benson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Martinez is just riding it out for now. Benson eventually gives up the hold.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Benson has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Martinez defend it? Benson steps over the head and cranks it - Martinez is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Benson!
