PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Drew Coulter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Willie Stroker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Drew Coulter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Willie Stroker!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Steve Erwin and Donatello Bradman.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Stroker clinches.
A body shot lands from Stroker.

Coulter is fighting off a takedown attempt but Stroker is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Coulter to the mat. Coulter regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Stroker postures up in Coulter's guard and throws a big left but Coulter blocks it.
Stroker throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Coulter works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Coulter not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Stroker sitting in guard here, content to control.
Stroker throwing strikes but missing.
Stroker trying to control the position from guard on top but Coulter is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Coulter keeping full guard, as Stroker tries to pass.

Coulter will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Coulter has managed to clinch.

Stroker gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.

It looks like Stroker is going to stand back up.
Stroker is keen to just control but Coulter is a slippery customer.

Stroker thows a huge punch but Coulter dodges it nicely.

Stroker misses with a head shot. Coulter uses the momentum to regain guard.

Stroker lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Stroker must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Coulter wants to sweep here but Stroker controlling him for the moment.

Stroker wants to control from the top but Coulter keeps moving.

Stroker stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Coulter swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Willie Stroker has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Stroker looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Coulter!
Stroker wants to control but Coulter is keeping him busy.

Stroker might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Coulter haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Stroker wants to stand but Coulter is controlling his arm.

Stroker lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Stroker is trying to control the action in half guard but Coulter is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Stroker is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Stroker slips a nice elbow through Coulter's hands, connecting with Coulter's forehead.

Stroker has closed the distance and engaged Coulter in a clinch.

Coulter seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Stroker does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Stroker is defending against the submission attempts here by Coulter.

Stroker tries to get to full guard but Coulter has control of the leg.
Stroker has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Coulter is working away from the top position though.

Stroker looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Stroker is looking to improve his position.
Stroker is refusing to be controlled, as Coulter sits in half guard.
Stroker makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Stroker.

Coulter postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Stroker is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Coulter, into his guard.

Stroker forces his way into half guard.
Stroker landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Stroker connects with a nice short shot to Coulter's temple.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Coulter is trying to maintain the position but Stroker is very close to passing his half guard.
Stroker takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Stroker is looking to take a break and control but Coulter is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Coulter on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Stroker thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Coulter's head.
Coulter is looking to improve his position.
Willie Stroker has got the better of the ground game so far.

Stroker is trying to control. Coulter wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Stroker winds up and cracks Coulter with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Stroker lands a massive shot from half guard that has rocked Coulter! More strikes land and this one is all over! Stroker jumps to his feet and is applauded loudly by the crowd!
