Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Manos de Piedra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charlie Borg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). de Piedra kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genuis that is Hecho en Mexico. Charlie Borg has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Borg shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says de Piedra as he avoids it easily.
de Piedra shoots in but no luck this time.
de Piedra closes the distance and clinches up with Borg, looking for a takedown. de Piedra pushes Borg against the cage but Borg circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Borg has his takedown stuffed
and de Piedra counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by de Piedra.
Borg is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
de Piedra is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Borg wants to stand up but de Piedra is controlling him.
de Piedra sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Borg's guard.

Well, if de Piedra is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
de Piedra is trying to control the action in half guard but Borg is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Borg keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
de Piedra is controlling the pace.
Borg wants to control but de Piedra is keeping busy.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
de Piedra decides to stand and escape the position.
Borg doesn't succeed with the takedown
and de Piedra counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Manos de Piedra has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Charlie Borg.
Borg tries to roll over but de Piedra keeps him under control.
Borg is trying to maintain the position but de Piedra is very close to passing his half guard.
de Piedra looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Borg is looking to improve his position.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with de Piedra in particular looking to stall.
Borg is not content to let de Piedra control the position.
de Piedra is figuring out what he wants to do next.
de Piedra seems to be working for a kimura but Borg defends the submission attempt.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
de Piedra is breathing heavily.
de Piedra works his way into full mount!
Borg wants to hold on but de Piedra pushes him away.
Borg tries to reverse the position but de Piedra maintains control.
Borg looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
Oooh a big shot gets through from de Piedra. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
de Piedra misses with a takedown attempt - Borg sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Borg tries to clinch up
and de Piedra counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Borg's guard now.
Borg is looking to stand up but de Piedra isn't so interested in that idea.
Borg has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes de Piedra off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Borg misses with a takedown
and de Piedra counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Borg controls de Piedra momentarily but de Piedra frees himself.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

de Piedra pushes down on Borg's leg and manages to get into half guard.
de Piedra throws a strike but Borg avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

Borg pushes de Piedra off and scrambles back to his feet.

Borg is looking to control de Piedra's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Borg avoid being mounted?

de Piedra wants to lay and pray for a moment but Borg keeps working.

and de Piedra counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Borg!
