PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Silas Tucker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sami Vajchabhom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Sami Vajchabhom!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Anni Minnemäki and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vajchabhom fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Tucker to the ground. Vajchabhom is now in Tucker's guard.
Tucker is controlling Vajchabhom's posture.
Vajchabhom controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Vajchabhom wants to get up but he can't break Tucker's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Tucker working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Vajchabhom doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Vajchabhom manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Tucker rushes Vajchabhom and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Tucker looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Tucker shoots in looking for a takedown. Vajchabhom tries to sprawl out of it but Tucker keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Vajchabhom manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tucker is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Tucker is staying active underneath Vajchabhom, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Tucker wants to control but Vajchabhom is keeping busy.
Tucker is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Vajchabhom is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Tucker had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Vajchabhom defends it easily.

Vajchabhom wants to control from the top but Tucker keeps moving.
Tucker has a closed guard, preventing Vajchabhom from standing up.

Sami Vajchabhom dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Tucker darts in and clinches Vajchabhom up against the cage.

Vajchabhom is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Tucker can't fight it off and eventually Vajchabhom manages to take the fight to the floor. Tucker looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Tucker is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Tucker is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

Vajchabhom sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sami Vajchabhom showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!



Tucker gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Vajchabhom to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Tucker has his foot on Vajchabhom's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Vajchabhom works his way back into a safe position though.

Tucker is pulling down on Vajchabhom's head. It's preventing any offense from Vajchabhom, at least for the moment.

Vajchabhom has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Tucker is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Vajchabhom.

Vajchabhom is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Tucker has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Tucker is putting a hurting on Vajchabhom here, landing some big shots from side control.

Tucker thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Silas Tucker has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Sami Vajchabhom is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Tucker postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Silas Tucker.
I think Vajchabhom has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
