The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnstone with a poor takedown
and Kurzhez counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Johnstone darts in looking for a takedown but Kurzhez gets double underhooks and turns Johnstone into the cage.
Kurzhez has hold of one of Johnstone's legs. Johnstone is fighting the takedown attempt but Kurzhez gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Kurzhez is pushing down on Johnstone's leg trying to pass to half guard. Johnstone is fighting to maintain full guard but Kurzhez has managed to sneak the leg through.
Kurzhez slips a nice elbow through Johnstone's hands, connecting with Johnstone's forehead.
