With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Gilbert Smith!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Daniel Franklin and Winston Alpacca.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mashine shoots in for a takedown but Smith shows good takedown defense.
Mashine fails with a takedown attempt.
Mashine wants to clinch up but Smith keeps it at a distance.
Mashine stuffs the takedown.

Smith gets the takedown into side control.
You can see the frustration on Mashine's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Mashine is looking to regain half guard here but Smith keeps moving and retains side control.
Mashine managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Smith.
Smith has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Smith tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Smith has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Smith tries to score with some ground and pound. Mashine controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Mashine is looking to reverse the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Smith works to advance to full mount. Mashine defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Mashine is in all sorts of trouble here.
Smith connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Smith can't control as he wanted to and Mashine manages to get the fight back to his half guard.

Smith looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Mashine looks like he's trying to stand up.

Smith scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Mashine is looking to escape.
Smith is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Mashine is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Smith misses with a head shot.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Smith lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mashine is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Smith tries to control but Mashine wriggling away.

Smith is working for a guillotine from mount but Mashine frees his head quite easily.
Smith takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Smith trying to control but Mashine is having none of it.

Smith controlling the pace for now.
Smith throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Mashine on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Mashine tries to get out of the position.
Mashine tries to hold on but Smith postures up.

Smith looking to isolate an arm here. Mashine doesn't see it coming and as Smith extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Smith!

A determined Gilbert Smith didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!
