Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gordon Matthews!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Tiny Johnson and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Lopez.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Lopez throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Matthews works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.

Matthews is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Lopez's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Lopez's back!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lopez trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
Lopez is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

Matthews is looking for the choke from the back position but Lopez is controlling his hands well.
I would not like to be Lopez right now.

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

Matthews has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
Matthews tries to keep control of the position but Lopez is staying busy.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

I really don't envy Lopez right now.

Matthews is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Lopez defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Well, with Matthews on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Lopez is tapping out... Can he escape the position?
