Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Thiago Azevedo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Avery Paul (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Azevedo's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Puddle Of Mudd - Psycho . I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Avery Paul was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Paul gets a clinch.
Paul can't get the takedown.

Paul breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Azevedo drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Azevedo staying calm.
Azevedo seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Paul for as long as he can get away with.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've been hearing good reports from Azevedo's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Azevedo's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Thiago Azevedo.
Paul throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Azevedo's waist but Azevedo gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Paul off to one side.
Paul pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Paul gets caught flat footed, as Azevedo shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Paul wants to control but Azevedo postures up.
Paul tries to buck Azevedo off but Azevedo is having none of it.

Azevedo is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Paul is trying to escape and Azevedo transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Paul is forced to tap! Nice work there by Azevedo! Very nice indeed!
