Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Steve Dragon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bobby Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dragon comes to the cage accompanied by Epic Sax. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bobby Smith!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Felipe Paraventi and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Dragon misses the shot to the body.
Smith lands a two punch combo.
Nice defenses there by Smith.
Dragon throws a body punch but Smith moves out of range.
Smith fails in his attempt to clinch.
Dragon has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Brophy's Evil Troid Academy (BETA) in the buildup to the fight.
A swing and a miss from Dragon.
Smith with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Smith tries to close the distance and clinch but Dragon swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Dragon just misses with a punch to the body.

Smith moves into the clinch.

Smith told us before the fight that he's been working on his elbows. An under utilised technique these days - let's see if it can sway the outcome of the fight.
Smith trying to control the position but instead, Dragon has worked for underhooks and has pushed Smith into the cage.
Dragon lands a nice shot to the body.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Smith pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Smith wants to clinch up but Dragon keeps it at a distance.
Dragon throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Smith tries to clinch but Dragon moves out of range.
Smith lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Dragon at a distance.

Smith uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Dragon.
Dragon's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Dragon duly obliges.
Smith bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Dragon fails with an attempt to clinch.
Bobby Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Smith instigates a clinch.
Smith scores with a hook to the body.
Smith tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Dragon's elbow.
A right hand to the body from Dragon.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
A right handed body shot lands from Dragon.
Smith lands a knee to the body.
Dragon trying to stall but Smith improves his position.
Dragon tries a body shot but Smith blocks it.
Dragon misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Dragon is struggling to control the position.
Dragon looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Dragon struggles to land a body shot inside as Smith controls his hands.

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Smith breaks the clinch.
Smith tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Smith scores with a jab to the body.
Dragon doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Dragon tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Smith manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Dragon looks to score with a jab to the body but Smith is just out of range.
Smith works over Dragon's head and body with a nice combination.


It looks like Steve Dragon has been cut.
Dragon tries to clinch up but Smith circles away and keeps his distance.
Dragon is looking to wear down Smith with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Smith tries to bum rush Dragon with a series of wild strikes but Dragon uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Smith throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Smith rushes Dragon and presses him up against the cage.
A left hand lands to the body for Dragon.
Dragon looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Smith.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Smith lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

Smith escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
A jab from Dragon misses.
A punch combination from Smith misses.

Smith closes the distance and clinches.
Dragon tries to throw a body punch but Smith avoids it by throwing Dragon back against the cage.

Dragon breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Smith lands a front kick.
Dragon throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Dragon gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Smith.
Some wild striking there from Smith.
Smith slips a straight right by Dragon.

Smith has closed the distance and engaged Dragon in a clinch.
Dragon throws a head punch that misses.
Dragon misses with a hook to the ribs.
Dragon presses Smith against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Smith breaks from the clinch.
Dragon pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Dragon misses with a looping right.
Smith swinging wildly here.
Dragon keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Dragon throws a series of punches but Smith moves out of range.
Smith connects with a leg kick. Dragon looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Dragon fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Smith manages to avoid it.
Smith is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Dragon listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Smith moves out of range of the strikes.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Dragon missing with a left hand there. Smith was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Smith misses with a series of wild punches.
Smith walks into a jab.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Steve Dragon will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Steve Dragon's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Dragon misses the shot to the body.
We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Smith in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.
Dragon thows a left - swing and a miss!
Smith tries to clinch up.
Dragon feints with a jab and clips Smith right behind the ear with a massive overhand right! Smith is sent crashing into the canvas and Dragon leaps in for the kill! Smith tries to get to his feet but Dragon is just battering him from every conceivable angle. The ref decides that Smith is in need of a savior and steps in!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:16 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Steve Dragon!
