PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between David Deacon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Scott Voss (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Voss has chosen Here comes the boom! as his entrance music. The key to victory for David Deacon has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, David Deacon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Scott Voss!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Chris Downing and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Deacon lands a jab to the nose.
Voss works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Voss tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Deacon defends well and Voss ends up having to push Deacon into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Voss breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Scott Voss seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Voss misses with a takedown
and Deacon counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.


It looks like Scott Voss has been cut.
Voss fails with a takedown attempt.
David Deacon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Scott Voss.
Voss shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Deacon sprawls well. Deacon wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Voss gets slowly back to his feet.
Deacon stuffs the takedown.
Voss fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Deacon displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Voss.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Voss shoots in looking for a takedown. Deacon tries to sprawl out of it but Voss keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Deacon manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Deacon's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Deacon duly obliges.
Deacon tries a head kick but it misses.
Deacon dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Voss. That did some damage!
Voss takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Voss gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Deacon counters with a nice uppercut.
Voss looks winded!
A nice inside leg kick there by Deacon. That's going to slow Voss down.
Nice takedown defense from Deacon. No joy for Voss on that attempt.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
A chopping leg kick lands by Deacon.
Deacon cracks Voss with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Voss misses with a takedown
and Deacon counters with a lovely straight right hand!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Voss takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Deacon lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Deacon lands a jab to the nose.
Voss has his takedown stuffed
and Deacon counters with a nice uppercut.
Voss on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Deacon is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Deacon connects with a solid leg kick.
Voss gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Deacon throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Voss's head.
Deacon connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Voss momentarily.
Deacon shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Voss eats them both and turns towards Deacon to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.


That has opened up Scott Voss's cut even more.
David Deacon is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Voss stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Deacon.
Deacon is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Deacon scores with a hook to the body. Voss takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
We've been told by Deacon's head coaches at †AWAKENING† that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Deacon scores with a jab. Voss acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Deacon jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Voss misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Voss closes the distance and clinches up with Deacon, looking for a takedown. Voss pushes Deacon against the cage but Deacon circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Deacon looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Good leg kick by Deacon there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Deacon connects with a body shot that sends Voss's belly button to the back.
Deacon lands a nice looking body kick.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
A decent looking cross lands there for Deacon.
Deacon ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Deacon thuds a left hand into Voss's body.
Deacon scores with a nice right hand.


The cut above Scott Voss's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Voss takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Voss has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Voss's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Deacon scores with a leg kick.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A shot to the liver by Deacon. Beautiful body shot.
Voss walks into a jab.
Voss walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Deacon scores with a shot to the body.
Deacon lets loose with a powerful body kick. Voss will feel that in the morning.
Deacon scores with a jab to the body.
Voss on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Voss takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Deacon lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Voss takes a jab right on the kisser.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Deacon dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Voss. That did some damage!
Deacon scores with the left hand. Voss knows he should have avoided that one.


Scott Voss's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
A slapping leg kick lands for Deacon.
Deacon lands a head kick!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

David Deacon dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Scott Voss's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Deacon connects with a leg kick. Voss looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Voss takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Deacon ducks under a wild hook from Voss.
Voss takes one to the chin there.
David Deacon is winning the standup battle so far.
Voss rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Deacon moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Deacon lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Voss pulls guard successfully.

Deacon gets to his feet. Voss looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Voss shoots in but Deacon avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Deacon cracks the inside of Voss's front leg.
Voss is breathing heavily.
Voss takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Voss walks into a left hand.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Voss is defended easily by Deacon.
Voss takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Deacon cracks Voss with a right hand to the side of the head.
Deacon stuns Voss with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Deacon throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Voss on the side of the head.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Scott Voss's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). David Deacon!
