Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Chris Campbell !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jamie Irvin!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Francis DeMontford and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Campbell closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Irvin to the mat! Irvin manages to get full guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Campbell postures up in Irvin's guard and throws a big left but Irvin blocks it.
Campbell loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Campbell throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Irvin works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Irvin is looking for a sweep. Campbell is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Irvin is looking to control Campbell 's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Irvin avoid being mounted?
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Campbell is trying to control the action in half guard but Irvin is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Campbell throws a shot from downtown. Irvin moves away and avoids it.
Irvin looks for a takedown but Campbell sprawls well.

Irvin tries to close the distance and clinch but Campbell swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Campbell misses the shot to the body.

Irvin shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Irvin showed some decent athleticism there.
Campbell wants to control but Irvin is keeping busy.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Campbell is looking to escape.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Campbell throws a sloppy head kick and Irvin moves out of range easily.
Campbell rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Irvin moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Irvin's coach down at Madz was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Irvin's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Irvin tries to clinch but Campbell moves out of range.
Campbell looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Irvin doesn't manage to clinch there - Campbell circles away.
Campbell closes the distance and clinches up with Irvin, looking for a takedown. Campbell pushes Irvin against the cage but Irvin circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Irvin.

Both fighters working to control the clinch.

Campbell gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Campbell seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Irvin looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Campbell trying to control but Irvin is working from the bottom.
Campbell has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Campbell missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Irvin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Campbell . If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Irvin manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Campbell is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Irvin has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Campbell 's face.

Campbell tries to buck Irvin off but he can't manage it.
Campbell is trying to stand but he's not in a good position to be doing that! Irvin has taken his back!

Irvin is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Irvin wants to work for an arm triangle but Campbell is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Campbell has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Irvin is working away from the top position though.

Campbell is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Irvin pulls his head out easily.

and Campbell counters with a good, hard body kick but Irvin shrugs it off.
Campbell throws a shot from downtown. Irvin moves away and avoids it.
Irvin avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Irvin closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Irvin lands in his opponent's guard.

Campbell looking for a triangle here. Irvin is fighting it but it looks tight! Campbell pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Irvin is tapping out - this one is all over!
