Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jim Pounder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andy McCole (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Pounder might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to People in Planes-Last Man Standing. Jim Pounder could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Andy McCole's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 33 - 25 - 1, fighting out of London, Jim Pounder!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Andy McCole!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Sam Margolis and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pounder throws a right and a left that both miss.

Pounder dives in and scores a takedown into McCole's guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

McCole looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Pounder slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pounder tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Pounder thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
McCole is trying to work for a sweep but Pounder has mounted him!
Pounder trying to control but McCole is having none of it.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Pounder swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and McCole is now in Pounder's guard. A big mistake from Pounder there, giving up the dominant position!
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw McCole working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

McCole got a little sloppy there for a moment and Pounder has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, McCole has managed to get both his arms back between Pounder's legs - danger averted.
Pounder lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for McCole!

Pounder jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… McCole is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by McCole and Pounder has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

McCole gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Pounder is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but McCole is surviving well by controlling Pounder's body position as best he can.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Pounder goes for an armbar but he's not got it… McCole turns into him and now he's in Pounder's guard.
McCole must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

McCole won't allow Pounder to get back to his feet.
McCole passes Pounder's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Pounder pushes McCole off looking to stand but McCole dives back in and keeps control.
McCole trying to mount his opponent but Pounder defends it.

Pounder kicks McCole off and gets back to his feet.
McCole avoids a punch combination nicely.

Pounder closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. McCole quickly recovers to half guard.
Pounder looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Pounder is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

McCole is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Pounder pulls his head out easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Pounder moves nicely into side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Pounder is trying to get an arm triangle but McCole is defending well.

Pounder tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Pounder has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for McCole!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jim Pounder dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Pounder shoots in and gets a takedown into McCole's guard.
Pounder wants to control from the top but McCole keeps moving.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now McCole is on top in guard.
Pounder looking to hit a scissor sweep but McCole is one step ahead there.

Pounder uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Pounder closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. McCole quickly recovers to half guard.

Pounder seems to be looking for submissions.
McCole wants to get back to full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Pounder is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, McCole has managed to free his arm - good work.
Pounder takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Pounder moves into full mount! McCole won't be happy about that!

Pounder goes for an armbar but he's not got it… McCole turns into him and now he's in Pounder's guard.

Pounder kicks McCole off and gets to his feet.

Pounder drives through and clinches with McCole against the cage.

Pounder lands a takedown into guard.

McCole had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Pounder defends it easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Pounder trying to control the position from guard on top but McCole is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Pounder avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Pounder stopping the sweep attempt from McCole.
McCole is breathing heavily.
McCole can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Pounder controls the pace.
Pounder passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Pounder is trying to get an arm triangle but McCole is defending well.

Pounder working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
McCole looks to move to half guard but instead Pounder has passed into mount! Damn!

Pounder is working for a guillotine from mount but McCole frees his head quite easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Pounder is going oldschool here, as he tries to force McCole to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so McCole shrugs it off.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
McCole is desperately trying to improve his position but Pounder has a good base and remains in mount.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Pounder wants to control the pace but McCole is squirming around nicely.
McCole is trying to escape the mount.

Pounder jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but McCole manages to avoid the submission attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jim Pounder dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



A momentary lapse in concentration from McCole enables Pounder to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. McCole manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Pounder passes McCole's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
McCole is not content to let Pounder control the position.

Pounder moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from McCole.

Pounder wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by McCole, who protects the arm well.

Pounder looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Pounder is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Pounder extends the arm and McCole is forced to tap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Jim Pounder!
As Jim Pounder got his breath back, he grabbed the microphone and managed to blurt out the following: This is officially my last fight, I had a great career and I'm glad I was able to retire with a win.'.
