PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alexander Dezhnyov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Valera Kamenskiy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kamenskiy comes into a darkened arena with his song building. The only kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexander Dezhnyov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 15 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Valera Kamenskiy!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Tarja Halkonen and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kamenskiy closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Dezhnyov quickly recovers to half guard.

Kamenskiy is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Dezhnyov defends it well.

Kamenskiy decides to stand up.

Dezhnyov closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Alexander Dezhnyov will probably get the nod.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kamenskiy accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Kamenskiy drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Dezhnyov manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Kamenskiy has Dezhnyov in his guard.

Kamenskiy has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Kamenskiy is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Valera Kamenskiy hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Dezhnyov lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Kamenskiy circles away quickly and effectively.

and Kamenskiy counters with a single leg into guard. Dezhnyov didn't expect that.

Dezhnyov shoots in for a takedown but Kamenskiy shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Dezhnyov shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Kamenskiy but Kamenskiy pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Dezhnyov throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Kamenskiy tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Dezhnyov is in Kamenskiy's guard.

Kamenskiy working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Dezhnyov doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Kamenskiy is tightening it up a little... Dezhnyov has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Dezhnyov reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Dezhnyov taps out! Nice BJJ there by Kamenskiy!
