The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Charmchi pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Charmchi shoots in and gets a takedown into Patricio's guard.

Charmchi throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Patricio was covering up waiting for the punch and Charmchi finishes the takedown easily into guard.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Patricio has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Charmchi is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Patricio.
Charmchi really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

You can see the frustration on Patricio's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Charmchi wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Patricio, who protects the arm well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Patricio shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Charmchi sprawls well. Charmchi wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Patricio gets slowly back to his feet.
