Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ichnig Reedin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joey Cardinal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cardinal is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by In Mourning - In The Failing Hour. Joey Cardinal has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Ichnig Reedin's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ichnig Reedin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Joey Cardinal!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Alec Ball and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cardinal closes the distance and clinches up with Reedin, looking for a takedown. Cardinal pushes Reedin against the cage but Reedin circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Cardinal.
Cardinal misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Cardinal tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Reedin swivels and escapes.
Ichnig Reedin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joey Cardinal.

Reedin decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Reedin throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Reedin is looking for a kimura here.

Reedin wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cardinal keeps working.

Cardinal looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Reedin is fending him off so far but Cardinal persists. Nope, Reedin circles away and we're back to standing.

A punch lands to the side of Cardinal 's head but he takes it in his stride.

and Reedin counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Cardinal thinking.

Cardinal shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Cardinal showed some decent athleticism there.
Reedin is trying to maintain the position but Cardinal is very close to passing his half guard.
Reedin wants to get back to full guard.
Reedin is working hard here to advance position.
Cardinal wants to stand up but Reedin is controlling the position.

Reedin jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Cardinal manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Reedin tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Reedin has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Ichnig Reedin overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Cardinal manages to work his way to half guard, despite Reedin's best efforts.

Cardinal kicks Reedin off and gets back to his feet.
Cardinal moves in looking to clinch but Reedin pushes him off.
No luck for Reedin with that takedown attempt.

Reedin takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Cardinal gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Cardinal connects with a nasty looking knee right to Reedin's face.

Reedin gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Cardinal throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cardinal seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Reedin drops back, looking for a kneebar! Cardinal looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Cardinal looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Cardinal!
Cardinal scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Reedin to see if he's OK.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Cardinal stands up.
Reedin shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Cardinal pinned against the cage. Cardinal gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Cardinal seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Reedin does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Cardinal wants to free his trapped foot but Reedin is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Reedin moves into full guard.

Reedin working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cardinal doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Cardinal manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
