The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Silva closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Hardy to the mat! Hardy manages to get full guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Hardy keeping moving, preventing Silva from controlling successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Silva really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hardy. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Hardy tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Silva manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Silva misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Hardy.

Hardy gets caught flat footed, as Silva shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Hardy is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Silva is fighting to break Hardy's control of his arms but Hardy is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Silva throws a big elbow that misses.

Hardy has his foot on Silva's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Silva works his way back into a safe position though.

Silva shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Silva was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Hardy gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Silva seems to be working for a kimura but Hardy defends the submission attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Alexander Hardy will probably get the nod.

Hardy chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Silva can pounce on him.
Evandro Silva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Hardy tries to sprawl but Silva drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Hardy is trying to maintain the position but Silva is very close to passing his half guard.
Hardy is concentrating on defense, preventing Silva from advancing position.
Hardy regains full guard. Nicely done.
Silva throws a strike but Hardy rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

and Silva counters with a nice double leg into side control. Hardy won't be happy with that.

Hardy throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

Silva closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Silva lands in his opponent's guard.
