Egeland comes to the cage accompanied by Jan Egeland. Shavershian comes into a darkened arena with his song building. John O'callaghan - Zyzz Version V2, - Find Yourself feat. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jan Egeland!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Aziz Shavershian!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, James Ackerman and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shavershian shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Shavershian takes a swing at Egeland's ribcage but misses.
Shavershian works Egeland's body with a nice hook.
Shavershian tries a low kick but Egeland avoids it.
Egeland connects with a crisp jab.
Egeland takes a swing at Shavershian's ribcage but misses.
Egeland misses with a takedown
and Shavershian makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Shavershian throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Shavershian takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Egeland takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

Egeland tries to bum rush Shavershian with a series of wild strikes but Shavershian uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Egeland scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Shavershian is not content to let Egeland control the position.
You can see the frustration on Shavershian's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Egeland remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Egeland wants to control but Shavershian is keeping him busy.
Shavershian tries to buck Egeland off but Egeland is having none of it.

Egeland is putting a hurting on Shavershian here, landing some big shots from side control.
Egeland wants to lay and pray for a moment but Shavershian keeps working.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Shavershian is trying to maintain the position but Egeland is very close to passing his half guard.

Egeland is stalling here. Shavershian is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Egeland seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Shavershian has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Egeland wants to control but Shavershian postures up.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Egeland tries to buck Shavershian off but Shavershian is having none of it.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Shavershian takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Shavershian stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Shavershian wants it to stay on the feet.
A shot to the liver by Shavershian. Beautiful body shot.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Shavershian tries a head kick but it misses.
Shavershian fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Egeland looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Shavershian digs a good body shot into Egeland's ribs.
Shavershian ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Shavershian on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Egeland!
Egeland takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Shavershian stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Egeland shoots for a double leg takedown but Shavershian sprawls well. He's pushed Egeland's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Egeland throws a right hand that misses
letting Shavershian counter with a right hand.
Egeland tries a head kick but it misses.
Shavershian scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Egeland throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Shavershian's waist but Shavershian gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Egeland off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jan Egeland. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Shavershian lands a slapping body shot.
Shavershian lands a head kick. Egeland smiles back at him and beckons him forward.


Egeland is rocked!
Aziz Shavershian is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Shavershian lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
A nice inside leg kick there by Shavershian. That's going to slow Egeland down.
Shavershian throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Egeland's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Shavershian dives in looking to finish as Egeland flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Shavershian's strikes! Shavershian is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Egeland's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Egeland was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:17 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Aziz Shavershian!
Aziz Shavershian made sure to give a little speech post fight, saying 'U mirin brah? I kno u mire! FUUUAAAARRRK!'.
