The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hightower stuffs the takedown.

Perkins pushes Hightower up against the cage in a clinch.
Hightower wants to take the fight to the mat but Perkins manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Perkins has had enough of the clinch but Hightower keeps him there for the moment.
Perkins tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Hightower smiles and moves away.

and Hightower counters with a nice leg kick.

Hightower closes the distance and clinches up with Perkins, looking for a takedown. Hightower pushes Perkins against the cage but Perkins circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Perkins wants to stand and escape but instead Hightower has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Hightower wants to get up but he can't break Perkins's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Hightower gets to his feet - Perkins follows without any prompting.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Perkins tries to clinch but Hightower is having none of it.

Perkins shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Hightower as he jumps to the side.

It looks like Hightower might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Perkins wants to control but Hightower is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Perkins is bucking up trying to escape but Hightower cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Hightower postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Hightower stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Hightower pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Perkins back to the cage. Hightower follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

It looks like Danilo Perkins has been cut.

Hightower has taken the fight to the clinch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Perkins tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Hightower escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hightower tries to bum rush Perkins with a series of wild strikes but Perkins uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Perkins shoots for a takedown but Hightower saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Hightower changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Perkins tries to avoid it but Hightower manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Perkins to the ground. Perkins escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
