Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ramon Dekkers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dwight Schrute (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dekkers's entrance music is Enter the ring. A fine choice. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dwight Schrute!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Jeff Smith and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dekkers takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Dekkers gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Schrute counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Schrute feints and as Dekkers raises his hands in defense, Schrute changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Schrute decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Dekkers, up you get!

Schrute throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Dekkers was covering up waiting for the punch and Schrute finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Schrute wants to control from the top but Dekkers keeps moving.

Dekkers is working an open guard so Schrute takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Dekkers closes this distance looking for a takedown but Schrute circles away.
Dekkers misses with a takedown
and Schrute counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Schrute fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Dekkers has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

and Dekkers counters with a series of strikes. Schrute will be more careful next time no doubt.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Dekkers checks a leg kick.
Schrute throws a sloppy head kick and Dekkers moves out of range easily.

Schrute has managed to clinch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Schrute decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Dekkers takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Dekkers moves in looking to clinch but Schrute pushes him off.

Schrute shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Dekkers is trying to defend but Schrute finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Schrute thows a body shot but no joy.
Dekkers defending well as Schrute loads up on a big left hand.
Ramon Dekkers is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

and Schrute counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Schrute swings widly with a right hand
and Dekkers counters with a big head kick but Schrute shrugs it off.
Schrute throws a big shot that misses.
Schrute cracks Dekkers with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Dekkers with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Schrute to score with a decent uppercut.
Schrute throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Schrute throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Schrute's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Schrute duly obliges.
Schrute looks to land a combination but Dekkers avoids it well.
Schrute digs a good body shot into Dekkers's ribs.
Dekkers doesn't succeed with the takedown
enabling Schrute to counter with a crisp jab.
Dwight Schrute seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Schrute throws a right and a left that both miss.
Schrute has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Schrute is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Dekkers's half guard.

Schrute decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Schrute blocks a head kick by Dekkers.
Schrute cracks Dekkers with a right hand to the side of the head.

Schrute throws a hook to the side of Dekkers's head but Dekkers sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Schrute closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Schrute stands up and beckons Dekkers to join him on the feet.

Schrute shoots in and bounces Dekkers off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Schrute really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dekkers. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Ramon Dekkers seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Dekkers uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Schrute.

Schrute shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Dekkers napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Dekkers tries to escape but Schrute is in control.
Schrute is looking to take a break and control but Dekkers is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Schrute decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Dekkers takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Dekkers gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Schrute to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Schrute might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Dekkers haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Dwight Schrute hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Schrute swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Schrute feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Dekkers drops his hands momentarily and Schrute takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Well Schrute has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
