Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Alejandro Dennis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anderson Silvas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Anderson Silvas is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Alejandro Dennis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Anderson Silvas!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Alexandre Firmino and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick from Silvas lands but Dennis takes it in his stride.


It looks like Alejandro Dennis has been cut.
Dennis misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Dennis scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Dennis gets a clinch.
Dennis prevents Silvas from breaking the clinch.
Silvas wants to get back to striking at distance but Dennis won't allow it.
Silvas pushes off an throws an elbow but Dennis leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Silvas lands with a right to the head.
Dennis could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Dennis tries to pull guard but Silvas holds him up against the cage and eventually Dennis drops back down to his feet.
Silvas looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
A frustrated look appears on Silvas's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Silvas jumps guard and drags Dennis to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Dennis stops Silvas from standing up.
Silvas utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Dennis wants to control from the top but Silvas keeps moving.
Dennis might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Dennis drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Silvas manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Dennis has Silvas in his guard.
Dennis wants to hit a switch here but Silvas passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Dennis there!
Silvas wants to control the pace but Dennis is squirming around nicely.

Dennis is in all sorts of trouble here.

Dennis is looking to improve his position but Silvas isn't that keen on the idea.
Dennis avoids a strike by Silvas and manages to complete a very nice reversal in the process, to end up in Silvas's guard! Fantastic escape!
Silvas wants to sweep here but Dennis controlling him for the moment.
Dennis really is built like a bowling ball. I wonder if he'd roll if you pushed him down a hill...

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Silvas is on top in guard.
Silvas is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Silvas stays in close to Dennis's body and controls the position.
Silvas's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Anderson Silvas has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Dennis fails in his attempt to clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Dennis shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Silvas sprawls well. Silvas wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Dennis gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alejandro Dennis. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Silvas throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Silvas tries to clinch but Dennis moves out of range.
Silvas throws a leg kick but Dennis sees it coming and moves out of range.
Silvas throws a head kick that misses.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Dennis fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Silvas throws a head kick but Dennis moves out of range.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Dennis.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Dennis tries to sprawl but Silvas drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Silvas not doing much here.
Silvas uses his free foot to push down on Dennis's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Dennis.
Dennis can't escape the position.

Silvas is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Dennis has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Dennis!
Dennis prevents Silvas from getting back to his feet.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dennis postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Dennis content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Dennis with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Dennis is trying to keep Silvas in close.

Silvas misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Anderson Silvas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Silvas looks to clinch
and Dennis counters with a three punch combo that has Silvas backing up. Silvas nods at Dennis to acknowledge the strikes.
No luck for Dennis with that takedown attempt.
Silvas just misses with a punch to the body.
Silvas throws out a leg kick but Dennis moves out of range and Silvas only half commits.
Silvas throws a series of punches but Dennis avoids them all with ease.
Silvas is breathing heavily.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Silvas motions for Dennis to come forward. Silvas throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Dennis circles away from the clinch attempt.
Dennis tries to clinch but Silvas moves out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Anderson Silvas showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!



Silvas forces Dennis back against the cage and clinches.
Dennis lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Silvas has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Silvas is trying to push Dennis away but Dennis has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Silvas is trying to break the clinch but Dennis has him pressed against the cage.

Silvas turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Silvas manages to end up in side control.

Dennis is looking for a sweep.

Silvas decides to stand up, so the ref orders Dennis to his feet.

Dennis shoots in and gets a takedown into Silvas's guard.
Dennis stops Silvas from standing up.
Dennis lands a couple of elbows.
Silvas takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Dennis gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Dennis misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Silvas tries to sprawl but Dennis drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Dennis is keen to just control but Silvas is a slippery customer.
Dennis winds up and cracks Silvas with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Dennis not doing much here.
Dennis is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Dennis lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Still in half guard, Dennis seems content to control.

Dennis seems to be looking for submissions.

Dennis not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Silvas is looking for a sweep. Dennis is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Silvas is defending against the submission attempts here by Dennis.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Dennis lands a nice short elbow.
Silvas on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

Dennis working over Silvas with some ground and pound. Silvas looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Dennis is looking to stall here but Silvas recovers full guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Dennis's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Dennis postures up in Silvas's guard and throws a big left but Silvas blocks it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Dennis throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Alejandro Dennis has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Anderson Silvas is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Silvas looking for a sweep. Not yet Silvas, not yet.

I think Silvas has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
