Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kurt Lockheart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sammo Yen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kurt Lockheart has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Kurt Lockheart!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Sammo Yen!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, David Hoff and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yen gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Lockheart finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Yen tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Lockheart paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Yen has his takedown stuffed

and Lockheart counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Yen!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Lockheart lands a decent elbow from side control.

Lockheart tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Lockheart has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Lockheart will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Lockheart cracks Yen with a big right hand but Yen just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Lockheart is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Yen has escaped the position, nice work there.
Yen is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Yen is letting Lockheart control him for a moment.
Yen struggling a bit here.

Lockheart is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Yen knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Yen tries to buck Lockheart off but Lockheart is having none of it.

Lockheart is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Yen is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Yen tries to bench press Lockheart off him but Lockheart keeps the position.

Lockheart wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Yen, who protects the arm well.
Yen takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Lockheart is breathing heavily.

Lockheart stands up.
A punch combination from Yen misses.
Yen tries to clinch up
and Lockheart counters with a left and a right that stings Yen.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Lockheart gets a takedown into half guard.
Yen pushes Lockheart off looking to stand but Lockheart dives back in and keeps control.
Lockheart throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Yen is trying to get back to full guard.

Lockheart is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Yen is just riding it out for now. Lockheart eventually gives up the hold.
Yen is refusing to be controlled, as Lockheart sits in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kurt Lockheart dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Yen dives in and grabs Lockheart's left leg, looking for a takedown. Lockheart pushes down on Yen's head and hops out.
Lockheart misses with a double jab.
Yen tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Lockheart counters with a nice double leg into side control. Yen won't be happy with that.

Lockheart is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Yen knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Kurt Lockheart overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Yen struggling a bit here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lockheart wants to lay and pray for a moment but Yen keeps working.

Lockheart works to advance to full mount. Yen defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Lockheart working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Yen slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Yen is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Lockheart content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Lockheart looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Lockheart landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Yen trying to hold on to Lockheart's head to control him but Lockheart postures up.
Yen is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Still in half guard, Lockheart seems content to control.
Yen is looking to improve his position.
Lockheart thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Yen's head.

Yen is defending against the submission attempts here by Lockheart.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Lockheart postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Yen to stand up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Lockheart avoids the head kick by Yen.
Yen doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Lockheart counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Yen!
Yen is trying to improve his position.

Lockheart has hold of Yen's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Yen seems comfortable defending it but Lockheart has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Yen is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Yen is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Lockheart couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Kurt Lockheart!
Kurt Lockheart spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
