Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Sid Going (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Derek Gordon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Going comes to the cage accompanied by Boom Schalak - House of Pain. Derek Gordon has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Sid Going!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Derek Gordon!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Johanna Lukiainen and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Going throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Going tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Gordon swivels and escapes.
Going lands a right hook to the body.

Gordon shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Going is trying to control but can't.
Going might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Gordon not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Going wants to get back to his feet.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Gordon in particular looking to stall.

Gordon is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Going sees it coming and defends easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Going pushes Gordon off looking to stand but Gordon dives back in and keeps control.
Going is trying is best to control the position here.
Gordon seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Going does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Going misses with a series of wild punches.

Going shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Going was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Gordon is trying to get back to his feet.

Gordon gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Gordon wants to improve his position but Going is controlling well.
Gordon wants to control but Going is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Going wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gordon keeps working.
Gordon regains full guard. Nicely done.

Going wants to get up but he can't break Gordon's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Gordon is trying to control the position but Going postures up.
Gordon tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Going stays in close to Gordon's body and controls the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Sid Going wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Going swats away the attempt to clinch by Gordon.

Gordon tries to clinch but Going moves out of range.

Going changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Gordon looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Gordon is looking to regain half guard here but Going keeps moving and retains side control.
You can see the frustration on Gordon's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Gordon is trying to improve his position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Going is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Gordon's shoulder. That is not cool.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Sid Going will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action!


Sloppy strikes from Going. Those never looked like landing.
Going lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!


It looks like Derek Gordon has been cut.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Going is defended easily by Gordon.
Going avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Gordon gets a double leg takedown into Going's guard.

Gordon passes Going's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Going wants to get back to full guard.
Gordon missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Going makes his way to full guard, as Gordon worked for a kimura.
Going trying to control the position here.

Going kicks Gordon off and gets to his feet.
No joy there for Going, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Going gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Going is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Going tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Derek Gordon has got the better of the ground game so far.
Gordon slips nicely into half guard.
Gordon perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Going is refusing to be controlled, as Gordon sits in half guard.

Gordon throws a strike but Going avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

Derek Gordon has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Going gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Gordon drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Gordon is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Going to keep the fight standing.

Gordon ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Gordon no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Gordon is adopting a defensive guard.
Going looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Gordon working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Going has passed into half guard!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Derek Gordon showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!



Going closes the distance and pushes Gordon back into the cage.
Going avoiding damage as Gordon throws knees to the body.

Gordon manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Gordon has a closed guard, preventing Going from standing up.
Going slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Gordon pushes Going away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Going gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Gordon is trying to improve his position.

Going decides to stand back up.

Gordon tries to close the distance and clinch but Going swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Going closes the distance and clinches up with Gordon, looking for a takedown. Going pushes Gordon against the cage but Gordon circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Going misses with a few strikes there.
Gordon fails in his attempt to clinch.
Going misses the shot to the body.

Going has closed the distance and engaged Gordon in a clinch.
Gordon letting Going take a breather here.
Going gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Gordon.
Going looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Gordon tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Going's elbow.

Gordon breaks from the clinch.
Going is trying hard to land a takedown here. Gordon sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Gordon takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Going keeps the fight on the outside.

Gordon gets caught napping as Going dives in and scores a takedown. Gordon manages to retain guard.
Going wants to pass the guard but Gordon is keeping the position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Gordon is working an open guard so Going takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Going lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Gordon circles away quickly and effectively.
Going throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Gordon.

Going closes the distance and pushes Gordon back into the cage.
Going wants to get back to striking at distance but Gordon won't allow it.

Gordon tightens his grip and picks Going up, before dumping him to the ground. Going manages to land in guard.
Going keeping full guard, as Gordon tries to pass.
Gordon looking to sit in guard and control but Going gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Gordon looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Going has picked Gordon up and slammed him! Gordon can't keep hold of the triangle and Going manages to pass to side control!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Going controls the position.
Going wants to control but Gordon is keeping him busy.
Gordon is trying to improve his position.
Gordon prevents Going from moving into mount.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Going decides to stand back up. Going steps back and let's Gordon get back to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
Sid Going showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Going has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A less than humble Sid Going misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
