Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Eric Brooks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anwar Sadat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brooks comes to the cage accompanied by ZAO - the psalm of the city of the dead.. Anwar Sadat will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Anwar Sadat!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sadat closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Sadat lands in his opponent's guard.
Sadat tries to free his leg and advance position but Brooks is retaining full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sadat is still trying to improve position.
Brooks is trying to keep Sadat in close.
Sadat looking to sit in guard and control but Brooks gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Sadat is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Brooks is aware though and is defending well.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Brooks throws a strike there. Sadat manages to avoid it well and slips a leg under to get to half guard.

Brooks throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Sadat was covering up waiting for the punch and Brooks finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Brooks tries to free his leg and advance position but Sadat is retaining full guard.
Sadat pulls Brooks in close to his closed guard and prevents Brooks from doing any damage or advancing position.
Sadat is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Sadat is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Sadat stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Brooks swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Anwar Sadat has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Brooks misses with an uppercut. Sadat saw that one coming.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Brooks closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Sadat's guard.
Brooks stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sadat swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Sadat is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Brooks is in close to Sadat's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Sadat avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Brooks wants to control from the top but Sadat keeps moving.
Brooks throws a big elbow that misses.
Brooks throws an elbow that misses. Sadat uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Brooks's guard. Nice move by Sadat!

Sadat looks to score with a jab to the body but Brooks is just out of range.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Brooks enables Sadat to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Brooks manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

My spies in CW's Elite Kung-Fu Academy inform me that Sadat has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Eric Brooks overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Sadat is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Brooks defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Eric Brooks.

Sadat shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Brooks's guard.

And that's the end of the fight!

I think Brooks has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
