PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Per Jonnsin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ty Timber (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Per Jonnsin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ty Timber!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Wagner Zegers and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Timber gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Jonnsin to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Jonnsin stands and steps away. Timber gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Jonnsin forces Timber back against the ropes and clinches.
Timber tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Jonnsin just stands there and leans against the ropes.

Jonnsin tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Timber's elbow.
Jonnsin manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Timber is trying to pull guard but Jonnsin has him pressed against the ropes.

Jonnsin has Timber pressed up against the ropes. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Jonnsin pulls back from the ropes and twists to the side, sending Timber tumbling to the mat - Jonnsin dives into Timber's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Timber can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Jonnsin controls the pace.

Timber really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jonnsin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Jonnsin really is a fat lump.
Timber is trying to escape the position but Jonnsin is controlling the position.

Jonnsin looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Jonnsin lands some shots froms side control.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
The referee asks Jonnsin politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Jonnsin prefers to stall for the moment though.

Jonnsin has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Timber wants to clinch

and Jonnsin counters with a nice double leg into side control. Timber won't be happy with that.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Timber is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Jonnsin is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Timber tries to buck Jonnsin off but Jonnsin takes his back!
You can see the frustration on Timber's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Jonnsin just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Timber tries to pull guard but Jonnsin forces him back to his feet, against the ropes.

Jonnsin gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Per Jonnsin overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Jonnsin is pressing down on Timber's thigh, looking to free his foot. Timber is holding on for now.
Jonnsin takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Jonnsin seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Timber for as long as he can get away with.

We're going to have a standup here because Per Jonnsin wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Jonnsin shoots in looking for a takedown but Timber manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Jonnsin's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Ty Timber seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Timber misses with a kick to the body.
Timber lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Jonnsin circles away quickly and effectively.
Jonnsin attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.

Jonnsin rushes Timber and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch.

Jonnsin escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Jonnsin misses with a series of wild punches.
Timber throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Jonnsin.
Timber misses with a double jab.
Jonnsin seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.

Jonnsin rushes Timber and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch.
Jonnsin lands a nice elbow from the clinch.

Jonnsin jumps into guard, dragging Timber to the mat.

Jonnsin is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Timber is aware though and is defending well.

Jonnsin is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Timber defends well.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Jonnsin seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Timber must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Jonnsin working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Timber doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Timber manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Timber wants to control from the top but Jonnsin keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Ty Timber.
Timber tries to bum rush Jonnsin with a series of wild strikes but Jonnsin uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Per Jonnsin dominated that second round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Jonnsin shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Timber napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Jonnsin is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Timber has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Jonnsin is landing with some decent strikes but Timber is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Jonnsin is working for a guillotine from mount but Timber frees his head quite easily.

Timber's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Ty Timber has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Jonnsin goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Timber turns into him and now he's in Jonnsin's guard.
Jonnsin bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Timber's guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Timber can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Jonnsin controls the pace.
Per Jonnsin is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Jonnsin is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Timber can do to turn this around?

Per Jonnsin showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Jonnsin has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
