The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Riviere throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Riviere throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Riviere throws an overhand right that lands on Alves's shoulder, as Alves tries to avoid the shot.
Riviere lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Alves blocks a leg kick.
Alves shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Riviere as he avoids it easily.
Alves misses with a takedown
and Riviere connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Riviere looks to land a combination. Alves sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
We've been hearing reports that Alves has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Alves closes the distance and clinches up with Riviere, looking for a takedown. Alves pushes Riviere against the cage but Riviere circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bruno Alves. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Riviere circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Alves to the canvas! Alves doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Riviere keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!
