Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Fabio Maldonado (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matsumae Sukeyuki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fabio Maldonado!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Matsumae Sukeyuki !
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Emerson Jorge and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sukeyuki connects with a single shot there.

Maldonado has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Sukeyuki is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Sukeyuki has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Maldonado uses from the top position.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Sukeyuki holds on and takes a little breather.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

A punch lands to the side of Maldonado 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Sukeyuki changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Maldonado looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Sukeyuki shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Sukeyuki was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sukeyuki seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Sukeyuki pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Sukeyuki throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Maldonado stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Sukeyuki feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Matsumae Sukeyuki showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

and Sukeyuki counters with a left and a right that stings Maldonado.
Maldonado shoots in looking for a takedown but Sukeyuki manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Maldonado's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Maldonado's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Sukeyuki connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Maldonado scrambles back to his feet.

Sukeyuki decides to stand back up. Sukeyuki steps back and let's Maldonado get back to his feet.

Sukeyuki breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Matsumae Sukeyuki is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Sukeyuki throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Maldonado was covering up waiting for the punch and Sukeyuki finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Let's hope that Sukeyuki has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Well Sukeyuki has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
