The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stam shoots for a takedown but Pansarvagn saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Pansarvagn is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Stam's half guard.
Stam wants to control but Pansarvagn is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Pansarvagn wants to free his trapped foot but Stam is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Pansarvagn is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Stam is defending well though. Pansarvagn let's go of the attempt for now.
Pansarvagn knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Stam on the ground.
Stam turns into Pansarvagn and is now in his guard.

Stam wants to control from the top but Pansarvagn keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Stam is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Pansarvagn is looking for a triangle but Stam pushes his legs off easily.

Stam drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Pansarvagn dives on top into guard.

Stam is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jaap Stam wasn't active enough on the ground.

Hubbe Pansarvagn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jaap Stam.

Pansarvagn slaps away a takedown attempt from Stam, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Pansarvagn scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Pansarvagn is taking a breather. Stam says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Hubbe Pansarvagn overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Stam has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Pansarvagn. Oh but Stam has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Pansarvagn goes limp - he's gone! Stam jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
