PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Austin Fowler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Patrick Kenzie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fowler comes to the cage accompanied by "On The Hunt" by Lynyrd Skynyrd. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Austin Fowler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 32 - 20 - 3, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Patrick Kenzie!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Luis Engracia and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kenzie slips under a jab.
Kenzie bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Fowler avoids a punch combination nicely.
Fowler throws out a loose jab but Kenzie uses good head movement to avoid it.
Fowler on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Fowler gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Kenzie.
Kenzie slaps away a takedown attempt from Fowler, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Fowler moves out of range of the strikes.
Kenzie scores with a hook to the body. Fowler takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Fowler throws a body punch but Kenzie moves out of range.
Kenzie tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Fowler paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Fowler changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kenzie tries to avoid it but Fowler manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kenzie to the ground. Kenzie escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Patrick Kenzie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kenzie throws a hook but Fowler avoids it easily.
Fowler has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Fowler uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Kenzie has time to react.
Fowler fails with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Austin Fowler. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kenzie misses with an uppercut. Fowler saw that one coming.
Kenzie throws out a powerful jab.
Fowler blocks a jab.
Kenzie throws a hook but Fowler blocks it.
Kenzie lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Kenzie needs to keep his hands up - Fowler had a free shot at his head there.

Kenzie clinches up against the cage.
Kenzie working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Fowler misses with a punch on the inside.
Kenzie blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Fowler misses with some punches.
Kenzie lands with a short shot to the head.
Kenzie scores with a nice hook to the head.
Kenzie lands a left hand that snaps the head of Fowler backwards.

Kenzie pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A swing and a miss from Fowler.
Kenzie's corner calls for a 1-2. Kenzie obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Kenzie keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Kenzie tries to close the distance and clinch but Fowler swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Fowler uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Kenzie.
Fowler uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Kenzie.
Kenzie connects with a body shot that sends Fowler's belly button to the back.
Fowler fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Kenzie avoids it really well and circles away.
Kenzie scores with the left hand. Fowler knows he should have avoided that one.
Kenzie lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Kenzie misses with a lunging right hand

and Fowler counters with a nice double leg into side control. Kenzie won't be happy with that.
Kenzie tries to buck Fowler off but Fowler is having none of it.
Fowler fails to land a wild elbow strike.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kenzie manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Fowler tries to get to full guard but Kenzie has control of the leg.
Fowler makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Fowler.

Kenzie decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Kenzie tries to clinch up but Fowler circles away and keeps his distance.
Kenzie scores with a shot to the body.
Kenzie blocks a low kick nicely.
Fowler doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Kenzie counters with a series of strikes. Fowler will be more careful next time no doubt.
Kenzie fails with an attempt to clinch.
Fowler shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Fowler feints and as Kenzie raises his hands in defense, Fowler changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Fowler pushing down on Kenzie's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Fowler is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Fowler wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kenzie keeps working.
Fowler thows a huge punch but Kenzie dodges it nicely.
Kenzie keeping control of the position.
Fowler is trying to control the action in half guard but Kenzie is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Kenzie is controlling Fowler's position as best he can from this difficult position.

Fowler is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Kenzie sees it coming and defends easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Patrick Kenzie will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Kenzie lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Fowler really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Kenzie tries to clinch up.
Kenzie lands with a right hand.


It looks like Austin Fowler has been cut.
Kenzie throws a hook but Fowler avoids it easily.
Kenzie waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Fowler.
Fowler ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kenzie moves away.
Kenzie moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Fowler swings for the body but Kenzie moves out of range.
Kenzie keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Fowler walks into a stiff left hand from Kenzie.


Fowler is rocked!
Kenzie with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Oh Fowler is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Kenzie throws a right and a left that both miss.
Fowler thows a body shot but no joy.

Kenzie rushes Fowler and presses him up against the cage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Still in the clinch, Kenzie scores with a nice short uppercut.
Kenzie gets through Fowler's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Kenzie manages to break the clinch.
Fowler misses with a lunging right hand
and Kenzie counters with a huge left! Fowler is in big trouble! He's backing up but Kenzie isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save Fowler from any more damage. A dominating finish by Kenzie!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Patrick Kenzie!
After winning the bout, Patrick Kenzie thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
