PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hector Hernandez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Teila Tuli (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Teila Tuli told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Hector Hernandez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Teila Tuli!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Roger Salmon and Micheangelo Fripello.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tuli has Hernandez up against the cage in a clinch.

Tuli has Hernandez pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Tuli pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Hernandez tumbling to the mat - Tuli dives into Hernandez's guard.
Tuli is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Tuli prevents Hernandez from getting back to his feet.
Tuli slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
The referee asks Tuli politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Tuli prefers to stall for the moment though.

Tuli stands up and beckons Hernandez to his feet.
Hernandez tries to close the distance and clinch but Tuli swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Tuli throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Hernandez tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
The fight stays on the outside here - Hernandez looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Tuli shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Hernandez is trying to stand.
Tuli slows the pace down in half guard.
Hernandez keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Tuli is nestled in close to Hernandez, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Tuli wants to pass to mount but Hernandez is defending the position.

Tuli is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Hernandez doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Tuli.
Tuli is trying to control. Hernandez wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Hernandez on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Hernandez tries to get out of the position.

Hernandez is trying to stand.
Hernandez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Tuli on the ground.
Still in half guard, Tuli seems content to control.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Teila Tuli hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Tuli gets tackled into the cage by Hernandez. Hernandez maintains the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hernandez tries to land knees in the clinch but Tuli avoids the damage to the body.
A frustrated look appears on Tuli's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Hernandez lands a body punch.
Tuli looks winded!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Hernandez lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Tuli backwards.

Hernandez throws a big uppercut that drops Tuli! More strikes from Hernandez and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Tuli lies dazed against the cage as Hernandez celebrates with his cornermen!
