PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jon Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick Stewart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jones comes into the arena with God Gave Me Style blaring out of the sound system. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jon Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nick Stewart!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Paulo Santos and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Stewart throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Jones.
Jones throws a leg kick but Stewart moved away.
Stewart has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Jones looks to throw a body kick

and Stewart holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Jones breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Jones with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Jones misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Stewart.
Jones throws a nice outside leg kick.
Horrible takedown by Stewart or perhaps it was just good defense by Jones which made him look bad.
Jones swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Stewart.
Stewart is looking to score with low kicks.
Jones falls off balance throwing a combination
and Stewart counters with a thumping low kick.

Stewart avoids the body shot from Jones.
Jones swinging wildly here.

Stewart moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Jones fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Stewart manages to avoid it.
Jones throws a head kick but Stewart moves out of range.
Jones fails to land with a series of punches.
Stewart gets cracked there but stands up to it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jones missing with a left hand there. Stewart was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Jones fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Jones lands a front kick.
Jones throws a left and a right that both miss

and Stewart moves into the clinch.
Jones has had enough of the clinch but Stewart keeps him there for the moment.
Stewart misses with a knee strike.
Jones stops a takedown attempt from Stewart.

Jones escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Jon Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jones scores with a three punch combo!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Jones pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Stewart on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Jones. Jones obviously looking to wear him down.

Jones lands a right hook to the body.
A lazy body kick from Jones
and Stewart counters with a nice leg kick.
Jones throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.

and Stewart counters with a thumping low kick.
Jones is breathing heavily.
Stewart keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Jones.
An inside leg kick lands from Stewart.

Stewart gets a clinch.
Jones is looking to break free of the clinch but Stewart has double underhooks.
Stewart lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Jones is trying to break the clinch but Stewart is controlling him.
Jones has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Stewart stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Jones manages to break the clinch.
Jones throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
A head kick by Jones misses
and Stewart counters with a thumping low kick.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Jones falls off balance throwing a combination

and Stewart counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Jones's guard now.

Stewart gets to his feet. Jones looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Stewart tries to close the distance and clinch but Jones swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Stewart checks a low kick from Jones.
Stewart wants to clinch up but Jones keeps it at a distance.
Jones missing with a left hand there. Stewart was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jon Jones will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

and Stewart counters with a series of strikes. Jones will be more careful next time no doubt.

and Stewart counters with a low kick, right behind Jones 's knee.
Jones looks to land a body kick but Stewart moved away.
That kick from Jones tenderised Stewart's leg. Stewart is trying to keep his angry face on.
A looping hook to the body misses from Jones. Stewart does a little dance to reset his feet.
Stewart closes this distance looking for a takedown but Jones circles away.
Jones throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Jones throws a leg kick but Stewart sees it coming and moves out of range.
Jones tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Jones throws a right and a left that Stewart avoids nicely.
Jones misses with an attempted mid kick.
Jones misses with the combination.
Stewart takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Jones throws a leg kick that is checked

and Stewart counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Stewart is trying for a kimura here. Jones looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Stewart wins by kimura!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:54 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Nick Stewart!
Jon Jones spoke after the fight, saying 'sorry for all my fans and i came stronger...'.
