PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jon Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenny Worner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jones comes into the arena with Lupang Hinirang blaring out of the sound system. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jon Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kenny Worner!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, George Francis and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Worner tries to close the distance and clinch but Jones swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Jones blocks the body kick.
Worner shoots in for a takedown but Jones shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Jones moves in looking to clinch but Worner pushes him off.
Jones doesn't manage to clinch there - Worner circles away.
Jon Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Worner fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Worner shoots in and drives through. Jones sprawls well.
Jon Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kenny Worner.
Jones tries to close the distance and clinch but Worner swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Worner closes the distance and clinches up with Jones, looking for a takedown. Worner pushes Jones against the cage but Jones circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Jones is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Jones throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Worner stuffs the takedown attempt from Jones. Jones gets slowly back to his feet.

Jones shoots for a takedown but Worner saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Jones fails in his attempt to clinch.
Jones slips under a jab.
Worner looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Jones is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Worner.
Worner shoots in but Jones avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Worner dodges the punch combination from Jones.
Jones throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Worner's waist but Worner gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jones off to one side.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Worner.
Worner shoots in and drives through. Jones sprawls well.

Worner shoots for a double leg takedown but Jones sprawls well. He's pushed Worner's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Jones stuffs the takedown attempt from Worner. Worner gets slowly back to his feet.

Jones lands with a kick to the temple. Worner shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Worner looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Jones is fending him off so far but Worner persists. Nope, Jones circles away and we're back to standing.
Worner is looking to clinch but Jones is avoiding it.
Jones shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Worner as he avoids it easily.

Worner has managed to clinch.
Jones scores with a hook to the body.
Jones tries to score a body lock takedown but Worner shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Jones pulls guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Worner tries to free his leg and advance position but Jones is retaining full guard.
Worner wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Worner throwing strikes from guard but Jones blocks nicely.

Jones seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Worner gets to his feet. Jones looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Worner shoots in for a takedown but Jones shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Jones has managed to clinch.

Worner has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Jones uses from the top position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Worner looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Worner trying to keep a closed guard but Jones is proving a slippery customer.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jon Jones will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Worner will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Worner takes the fight into the clinch.

Jones struggles to land a body shot inside as Worner controls his hands.

Worner really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jones. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Worner shoots in looking for a takedown. Jones tries to sprawl out of it but Worner keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Jones manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jon Jones will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Jon Jones overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Jones is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Worner is forced to tap! Great finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:20 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Jon Jones!
Jon Jones decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
