Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hicks shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Hicks showed some decent athleticism there.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Hicks with the ground and pound but Johnson uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Johnson can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Hicks controls the pace.
Hicks has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Hicks postures up in Johnson's guard and throws a big left but Johnson blocks it.

and Johnson counters with a series of strikes. Hicks will be more careful next time no doubt.

Johnson is pushing Hicks's head away, looking to escape. Hicks manages to hold on to the position though.

Johnson takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Johnson seems a little lost for a moment, as Hicks dominates the positioning.

Hicks wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Johnson, who protects the arm well.
Hicks is staying tight to Johnson's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Johnson is rocked!
Hicks scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Johnson is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Hicks can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Bill Hicks!
Our winner, Bill Hicks, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
