Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between David Velasquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wade Anderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Anderson has chosen "Not Falling" by Mudvayne as his entrance music. Wade Anderson will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, David Velasquez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Wade Anderson!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Velasquez rushes Anderson and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Anderson looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Anderson is trying to force a seperation but Velasquez has the dominant position.
Anderson has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Velasquez escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Anderson moves into range and clinches up with Velasquez.

Velasquez pulls guard successfully.
Anderson prevents Velasquez from getting back to his feet.
Anderson throws a big right hand that misses.
Velasquez is looking to stand up but Anderson isn't so interested in that idea.
Anderson pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Velasquez is keeping the position for now.
Velasquez wants to get back to his feet but Anderson is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Velasquez has taken the fight to the clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Anderson's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Anderson looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Velasquez has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Anderson is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Anderson lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Velasquez backwards.

Velasquez breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Velasquez misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Velasquez circles away from the clinch attempt
and Velasquez counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Velasquez does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Anderson tries to clinch
and Velasquez counters with an inside leg kick.

Anderson drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Anderson trying to control the position from guard on top but Velasquez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Velasquez is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Velasquez tries to land a sweep but no joy.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Velasquez bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Anderson's guard.

Anderson is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Velasquez is controlling him.

Anderson tries to land a sweep but no joy.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Anderson tries to close the distance and clinch but Velasquez swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Velasquez throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Velasquez forces Anderson back against the cage and clinches.

Velasquez manages to break the clinch.
Velasquez circles away from the clinch attempt
and Velasquez counters with a nice uppercut.
Anderson tries to clinch
and Velasquez counters with a slapping leg kick.
A nice leg kick lands there from Velasquez.
Velasquez throws a hook to the side of Anderson's head but Anderson sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Anderson tries to bum rush Velasquez with a series of wild strikes but Velasquez uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Velasquez clinches.
A frustrated look appears on Anderson's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Velasquez fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Velasquez manages to break the clinch.
Velasquez looking to land some kicks to the body here.

Anderson has managed to clinch.
Anderson lands a shot to the body.

Velasquez pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Velasquez gets caught napping as Anderson dives in and scores a takedown. Velasquez manages to retain guard.
Anderson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Anderson tries to stand but Velasquez is controlling from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Anderson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Velasquez has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Anderson has managed to get both his arms back between Velasquez's legs - danger averted.

That was a close round but I would say that David Velasquez will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Anderson looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Anderson prevents Velasquez from improving his position.
Velasquez is trying to control but can't.
Velasquez is looking to escape.
Anderson is looking to take a break and control but Velasquez is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Wade Anderson wasn't active enough on the ground.
No joy there for Anderson, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Wade Anderson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Anderson is breathing heavily.

Velasquez swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Velasquez tries to close the distance and clinch up but Anderson swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Velasquez clinches up with Anderson and pushes him back against the cage.

Velasquez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Anderson misses with the combination.
Velasquez throws a head kick but Anderson moves out of range.

Anderson takes a shot right to the bread basket.

Velasquez manages to break the clinch.
A swing and a miss from Velasquez.

Velasquez closes the distance and pushes Anderson back into the cage.
Anderson is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Velasquez breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Velasquez looks to land a left hand but Anderson moved out of range nicely.
Velasquez uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Anderson has time to react.

Velasquez is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Anderson is aware though and is defending well.

Anderson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Velasquez does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Velasquez tries to kick Anderson off but Anderson keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Anderson is taking a breather. Velasquez says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Wade Anderson hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Anderson swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Velasquez cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Velasquez is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Anderson is looking to clinch but Velasquez is avoiding it.
Wade Anderson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Anderson avoids a low kick by using good footwork.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

I would just about give that final round to Wade Anderson.
I think Anderson has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
