Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ken Mckenzie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rick Fratinni (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fratinni is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Fire fly. Rick Fratinni has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ken Mckenzie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rick Fratinni!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Steve Montenegro and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fratinni shoots in looking for a takedown. Mckenzie tries to sprawl out of it but Fratinni keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Mckenzie manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Mckenzie tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Horrible takedown by Fratinni or perhaps it was just good defense by Mckenzie which made him look bad.
Fratinni lands a nice looking kick to the body. Mckenzie takes a step back to recover.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Mckenzie.
Fratinni throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Fratinni fails with the takedown.
Ken Mckenzie has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rick Fratinni.

Fratinni shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Mckenzie napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Fratinni utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Mckenzie postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Mckenzie has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Mckenzie is looking to work some ground and pound but Fratinni has wrist control.
Mckenzie postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Fratinni has a closed guard, preventing Mckenzie from standing up.

Mckenzie postures up in Fratinni's guard and throws a big left but Fratinni blocks it.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Fratinni is on top in guard.

Fratinni has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Mckenzie is proving hard to escape from.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Fratinni's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Fratinni is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Rick Fratinni was stalling too much, according to the referee.
A nice leg kick lands there from Fratinni.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
A left and a right from Fratinni both land. Nice combination.


It looks like Ken Mckenzie has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Mckenzie enables Fratinni to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Mckenzie manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Fratinni shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Mckenzie is trying to defend but Fratinni finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Mckenzie pushes Fratinni off and gets back to his feet.
Fratinni swings for the body but Mckenzie moves out of range.
Fratinni thumps Mckenzie with a low kick.

Fratinni shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Mckenzie is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Fratinni passes into half guard under a barage of strikes.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Mckenzie lands with a few short shots to the body.

Fratinni prevents Mckenzie from improving his position.

Mckenzie has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Fratinni is on him like a limpet, forcing Mckenzie back against the cage.

Fratinni has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Mckenzie is trying to keep an underhook but Fratinni manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Fratinni tries to stand but can't do so whilst Mckenzie controls his leg.

Fratinni looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Rick Fratinni seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Fratinni is looking to clinch but Mckenzie is avoiding it.

Mckenzie has taken the fight to the clinch.

Fratinni uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Horrible takedown by Mckenzie or perhaps it was just good defense by Fratinni which made him look bad.
Fratinni throws the kick towards the body but Mckenzie avoids it.
Fratinni shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Mckenzie but Mckenzie pushes him off and we're back to square one.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Fratinni throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Mckenzie.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rick Fratinni showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Mckenzie gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Mckenzie is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Mckenzie is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Fratinni has managed to free his arm - good work.
Mckenzie thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Mckenzie is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Fratinni sees it coming and defends easily.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Fratinni moves into full guard.
Mckenzie works over Fratinni with some ground and pound from guard.
Mckenzie in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Mckenzie drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Mckenzie seems to have locked his on tight now - Fratinni screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Mckenzie, as he picks up the win!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kneebar). Ken Mckenzie!
Rick Fratinni spoke after the fight, saying 'I'm very disappointed in myself. I gave it 100% and I promise that I will come back stronger.'.
