PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Roman Vondracek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tong Van damm (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Van damm has chosen Life Goes On as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 28 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tong Van damm!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vondracek rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Van damm moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Vondracek chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Van damm can pounce on him.
Van damm avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Van damm lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Vondracek circles away quickly and effectively.
Vondracek takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Vondracek throws a series of punches but Van damm avoids them all with ease.

Vondracek gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Vondracek shoots for a takedown but Van damm saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Van damm bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops Vondracek! He dives into his guard looking to finish!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
An elbow from Van damm crashes against the mat.
Van damm in side control, just content to control the action for now.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Van damm is trying to work for a kimura but Vondracek is defending well.
Van damm wants to lay and pray for a moment but Vondracek keeps working.
Van damm perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Vondracek is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Well, if Van damm is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Van damm is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Vondracek is just riding it out for now. Van damm eventually gives up the hold.

Vondracek needs to keep his hands up - Van damm had a free shot at his head there.
Van damm connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Vondracek looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Van damm is fending him off so far but Vondracek persists. Nope, Van damm circles away and we're back to standing.

Van damm and Vondracek are patiently standing in front of each other looking for an opening. Van damm throws a head kick. It's landed, knocking Vondracek into next week! Ooooh that was huge! Van damm knows it - he's on the cage flexing is biceps. That's a bit weird considering he won by kick but whatever.

After winning the bout, Tong Van damm thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
