The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Frank Dennis and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Contino misses with a two punch combination.
Contino closes this distance looking for a takedown but Weidman circles away.
Contino looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Weidman is fending him off so far but Contino persists. Nope, Weidman circles away and we're back to standing.
Weidman closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Weidman lands in his opponent's guard.
Weidman seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Let's hope that Weidman has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Contino drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Weidman gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Weidman ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Weidman no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
