The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Townsley clinches with his opponent.

Townsley wants the takedown. Cruz is fighting it off but Townsley persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Cruz's guard against the cage.
Townsley will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Townsley is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Cruz escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Townsley gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Townsley stands up and waves to Cruz to follow him.
Cruz looks to land a body kick but Townsley moved away.
Cruz throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.

Cruz gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Townsley wants to stand but Cruz is controlling his posture from full guard.

Cruz has his foot on Townsley's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Townsley works his way back into a safe position though.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Townsley has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Cruz to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Townsley is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Cruz pulls down on the head and he's put Townsley to sleep! This one is all over!
