PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Stone Cold (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Asa Sharp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cold comes to the cage accompanied by Stone Cold Steve Austin Theme. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Stone Cold!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Asa Sharp!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Bruno Hogan and Ben Hemmingworth.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cold has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Sharp misses with the combination.
Sharp fails to land with a series of punches.
Some wild striking there from Sharp.

Sharp throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Cold was covering up waiting for the punch and Sharp finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Cold is rocked!

Sharp drops back looking for a leg! Cold is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Cold manages to kick Sharp off! Sharp jumps back into Cold's guard.

Cold is looking for a triangle but Sharp pushes his legs off easily.
Sharp tries to free his leg and advance position but Cold is retaining full guard.
Cold trying to control the position.
Sharp controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cold will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

That's one minute gone in the round.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Stone Cold wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Sharp gets a double leg takedown into Cold's guard.
Sharp sitting in guard here, content to control.
Sharp works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Sharp in particular looking to stall.

Sharp is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sharp passes the guard and advances to mount!
Sharp controlling his opponent.
Sharp looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Sharp is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Cold has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Cold!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Sharp had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Cold defends it easily.

Sharp is looking for a triangle here but Cold uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Sharp tries to get back to half guard but can't.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sharp wants to control but Cold postures up.
Sharp tries to improve position but can't.
Sharp is trying to control Cold's posture but Cold avoids it.
Sharp is looking for a sweep.
Cold really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Sharp tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Cold presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Sharp is looking to get to half guard.
Sharp wants to control but Cold is having none of it.

Sharp bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Sharp drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Sharp jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Cold is looking for a triangle but Sharp pushes his legs off easily.
Sharp controlling from the top position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Cold is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Sharp stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cold swivels though and keeps the full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Asa Sharp dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Sharp stalks Cold and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Cold's face. Cold staggers backwards, shaken.
Sharp stuffs the takedown attempt from Cold. Cold gets slowly back to his feet.

Sharp looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Oh Cold is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Sharp is trying for a kimura here. Cold looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Sharp wins by kimura!
