PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Logan Mitchell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Donnie Yen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Logan Mitchell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Donnie Yen!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Wesley Smith and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yen fails with a takedown attempt.
Mitchell jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Mitchell lands with a right hand.
Mitchell loads up on a big right hand but Yen slips the punch.
Yen ducks under a wild hook from Mitchell.
Mitchell tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Yen was well out of range. Poor timing from Mitchell.
Yen walks into a stiff left hand from Mitchell.
Yen throws a head kick that misses.
Yen goes for a double leg but Mitchell avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Mitchell continues to drive forward.
Mitchell cracks Yen with a nice body shot.
Mitchell misses with a short punch on the inside.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mitchell has a couple of punches blocked by Yen.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Yen.

Mitchell manages to break the clinch.
Yen dives in for a single leg takedown but Mitchell sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Logan Mitchell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Donnie Yen.
With the fighters up against the cage, Mitchell throws an elbow but misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Yen tightens his grip and picks Mitchell up, before dumping him to the ground. Mitchell manages to land in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Yen preventing the sweep.
Yen trying to control but Mitchell is working from the bottom.
Mitchell wants to sweep but no luck.
Yen tries to stand but Mitchell is controlling from the bottom.
Yen throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Mitchell works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Yen stopping the sweep attempt from Mitchell.
Mitchell avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Yen drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Yen jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Yen missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Mitchell has a closed guard, preventing Yen from standing up.
Yen looking to sit in guard and control but Mitchell gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Yen controls Mitchell momentarily but Mitchell frees himself.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mitchell stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Yen swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Mitchell looking to sit in guard and control but Yen gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Yen trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Yen stopping the sweep attempt from Mitchell.

Yen preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Yen is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Yen has his foot on Mitchell's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Mitchell works his way back into a safe position though.
Mitchell trying to control the position from guard on top but Yen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Yen is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Mitchell is aware though and is defending well.
Mitchell wants to control from the top but Yen keeps moving.

Mitchell avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Yen is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Mitchell is controlling him.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mitchell is looking to work some ground and pound but Yen has wrist control.
Mitchell postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Logan Mitchell will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Yen throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Mitchell misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Yen counters with a head kick.
Yen shoots in for a takedown but Mitchell shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Mitchell on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Yen avoids a punch combination nicely.
Yen looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Yen shoots in looking for a takedown. Mitchell tries to sprawl out of it but Yen keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Mitchell manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Logan Mitchell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Donnie Yen.
Mitchell fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Mitchell looks to land a left hand but Yen moved out of range nicely.
Mitchell slaps away a takedown attempt from Yen, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Mitchell lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Yen uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Mitchell.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Yen looks for a takedown but Mitchell sprawls well.
Mitchell dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Yen is breathing heavily.
Yen slips under a jab from Mitchell.
Yen takes one to the chin there.
Yen tries for a takedown but Mitchell circles away easily
and Mitchell counters with a stiff right hand.


Yen is rocked!
Yen fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Mitchell avoids it really well and circles away.
Yen looks to clinch
and Mitchell counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Yen is still on wobbly legs! Can Mitchell finish him?
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

and Mitchell counters with a big right hand! Oh Yen is in trouble here! Mitchell follows up with more strikes and that's it! The ref has stopped it!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Logan Mitchell!
