Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Harris Stevenson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kuroko Maasaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Harris Stevenson had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Harris Stevenson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kuroko Maasaki!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Shirou Masuda and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maasaki shoots for a takedown but Stevenson saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Stevenson is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Stevenson tries to keep at a distance but Maasaki has taken the fight into the clinch.
Maasaki tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Stevenson's elbow.

Maasaki pulls guard.
Maasaki wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Stevenson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Maasaki looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Maasaki has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Stevenson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Maasaki utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Maasaki is trying to keep Stevenson in close.

Maasaki lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Stevenson!
Stevenson is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Maasaki takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Maasaki has hold of Stevenson's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Stevenson manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
The referee warns Stevenson that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Stevenson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Stevenson is squirming around, avoiding Maasaki's attempts to control the action.

Stevenson wants to control but Maasaki is having none of it.
Maasaki looking to control but Stevenson is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Maasaki sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Stevenson is trying desperately to improve position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Maasaki is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Stevenson to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Stevenson shrugs it off.

Maasaki with a couple of short strikes.
Stevenson is squirming around, avoiding Maasaki's attempts to control the action.
Maasaki looking to control and managing it successfully.
Maasaki trying to control but he's not successful this time.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Maasaki is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kuroko Maasaki dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Maasaki will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Stevenson goes for a double leg but Maasaki avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Maasaki continues to drive forward.
Stevenson throws a head punch that misses.
Maasaki drops down looking for an ankle pick but Stevenson pulls his leg out and moves away.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Stevenson is defended easily by Maasaki.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Stevenson enables Maasaki to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Stevenson manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Maasaki wants to stand but Stevenson has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Maasaki stands and steps away. Stevenson gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Stevenson drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Stevenson looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Maasaki wants to control but Stevenson postures up.

Maasaki is trying to improve his position.
Maasaki is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Stevenson's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Maasaki pushes Stevenson off and gets back to his feet.
Maasaki shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Stevenson as he jumps to the side.
Harris Stevenson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kuroko Maasaki.

Stevenson tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Maasaki defends well and Stevenson ends up having to push Maasaki into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Stevenson is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Maasaki is looking to control Stevenson's arms but Stevenson gets an underhook and turns him. Now Maasaki has his back to the cage.
Stevenson trying to control the position but instead, Maasaki has worked for underhooks and has pushed Stevenson into the cage.

Maasaki's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Harris Stevenson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Stevenson shoots in for a takedown but Maasaki shows good takedown defense.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Maasaki moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Maasaki shoots in looking for a takedown but Stevenson manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Maasaki's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kuroko Maasaki showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Stevenson looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Maasaki is fending him off so far but Stevenson persists. Nope, Maasaki circles away and we're back to standing.
Maasaki is trying hard to land a takedown here. Stevenson sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Maasaki throws a one two combo.

Maasaki shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Maasaki is pressing down on Stevenson's thigh, looking to free his foot. Stevenson is holding on for now.
Stevenson wants to control but Maasaki is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Maasaki thows a huge punch but Stevenson dodges it nicely.

Maasaki wants to lay and pray for a moment but Stevenson keeps working.
Stevenson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Maasaki is working away from the top position though.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Maasaki shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Stevenson tries to get to full guard but Maasaki has control of the leg.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Maasaki is trying to control the action in half guard but Stevenson is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Maasaki stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Maasaki misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Stevenson blocks a head kick by Maasaki.
Stevenson closes the distance and clinches up with Maasaki, looking for a takedown. Stevenson pushes Maasaki against the cage but Maasaki circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Nice takedown defense from Stevenson. No joy for Maasaki on that attempt.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Maasaki is looking for a sweep. Stevenson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Maasaki is trying to maintain the position but Stevenson is very close to passing his half guard.
Stevenson lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Maasaki moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Maasaki looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Stevenson has picked Maasaki up and slammed him! Maasaki can't keep hold of the triangle and Stevenson manages to pass to side control!
Maasaki is trying to control Stevenson's posture but Stevenson avoids it.
Stevenson cracks Maasaki with a big right hand but Maasaki just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Harris Stevenson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Kuroko Maasaki is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Kuroko Maasaki comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Maasaki has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
