PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jake Coleman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mohammad Al Nasser (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mohammad Al Nasser will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jake Coleman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 18 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mohammad Al Nasser!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Al Nasser fails with a takedown attempt.

and Coleman counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Coleman lands a couple of elbows.
Coleman knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Al Nasser on the ground.

Coleman is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Al Nasser defends well.

Coleman is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Jake Coleman just wasn't active enough.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Al Nasser.

Al Nasser fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Coleman sprawls well initially but Al Nasser persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Al Nasser is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Coleman manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Al Nasser manages to get himself to full guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Al Nasser shoots and misses

Coleman sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Al Nasser feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Coleman, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
