Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dirt McGirt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Nickson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McGirt kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Shimmy Shimmy Ya. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Elvis Blanc and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McGirt takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Nickson's coach down at Werewolf's cave was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Nickson's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
McGirt lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
McGirt tries to clinch up but Nickson circles away and keeps his distance.
Nickson misses the shot to the body.
McGirt tried to score with a low kick but Nickson checks it.
A looping hook to the body misses from Nickson. McGirt does a little dance to reset his feet.
Nickson uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before McGirt has time to react.

McGirt does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
McGirt fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Nickson scores with a punch to the head.
McGirt takes the fight into the clinch.
Nickson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Nice shot lands for Nickson.
McGirt rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Nickson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Nickson throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent McGirt stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

and McGirt counters with a series of strikes. Nickson will be more careful next time no doubt.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

and Nickson makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

McGirt tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Nickson paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Nickson lands a nice shot that snaps McGirt's head back.
Nickson lands with a nice body punch.
McGirt throws a series of punches but Nickson moves out of range.
McGirt throws a right and a left that both miss.
McGirt goes for a double leg but Nickson avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Nickson continues to drive forward.

Nickson is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! McGirt had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.

Dirt McGirt seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

A jab from Nickson finds it's way through McGirt's defenses.

and McGirt takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Nickson wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dirt McGirt. That's going to take a lot out of him.

This is turning into a torrid day at the office for McGirt. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

McGirt seems to be squinting his left eye. Perhaps he got a poke in that previous exchange. Nickson shows no mercy and swarms him with a barage of strikes! McGirt is backing up but Nickson catches him with a final right hook that drops him! McGirt covers up and the referee steps in to end the fight! Nickson Jumps to his feet and flashes his guns to the crowd. Oh yeah, baby! How'd you like them apples?!
